Autumn foliage 9 / Kitano shrine

Today's topic is not Kitano shrine but so-called " Odoi" , earthen mound surrounding the city for protection in 16th century

The ruler samurai surround Kyoto with Odoi for guarding the capital.

Now most of the parts can not be seen in the city but a part of short mound still remains

Kitano Odoi is one of them.

But in Autumn, maples along Odoi is very beautiful.


Please proceed the precinct of Kitano shrine and on the left side, there is an entrance to Odoi
When you stand here, you will feel like you are in a different world.

Entrance fee 1000 yen with a tea ticket
access 
From Kyoto station city bus 50 or 101 
   or
Subway to Imadegawa and take a city bus 203  102  51

Please enjoy not only maple garden but also the shrine itself.
